Nektar

Nektar is a British progressive rock band from Hamburg, Germany. The group was formed in 1969 and separated two years after the release of the album Man in the Moon in 1980. In 1999, Roye Albrighton is rescued extreme accuracy of a liver infection through a last minute transplant, what decides it, once cured, to reform the group which made it known>. However, Albrighton dies on July 27, 2016 as a result of his illness, thus ending the group's activities.

Nektar was formed at the end of 1969 in Hamburg, Germany, by English musicians. The Prophecy group composed of Alan Taff Freeman, Ron Howden and Derek Mo Moore, among others, played at the Star Club in Hamburg >>>. Roye Albrighton, who also toured the German club circuit but was not happy with his band Rainbows, decided to found a new band with the three Prophecy musicians mentioned above. This is how Nektar was born. The group is joined by Mick Brockett, who will take care of lighting and projections.

After signing with the German label Bellaphon Records, the band recorded in 1971 its first album Journey to the Center of the Eye which will be followed by the concept album A Tab in the Ocean in 1972. This album contains the songs Desolation Valley and King of Twillight, which will become flagship titles of their future stage performances. King of Twilight will be featured by the British rock band Iron Maiden in 1984 for the B side of his single Aces High from Powerslave>.

The year 1973 witnessed the release of their third album ... Sounds Like This recorded live in studio. It will be the band's first album to see its UK release and will be described as "an extraordinary album" by Elton John>. The group will make two appearances on the English television program The Old Gray Whistle Test.
