Los tres

Los Tres is a Chilean rock band from Concepción. He is active from 1988 to 2000, then again from 2006. With ten official albums and several participations in collective albums and compilations, the group is a faithful representative of Chilean rock, which integrates both rockabilly and jazz, as well as the traditional music of their country.

The origins of the group date back to the early 1980s in the city of Concepción, capital of the Biobío region, when adolescent friends Roberto "Titae" Lindl and Álvaro Henríquez, form various groups during their rockabilly years with which they play in the universities, clubs and bars of the city, performing covers of songs by Chuck Berry, Gene Vincent and Elvis Presley. With Francisco Molina (future co-founder of Los Tres) in addition to Gilles Marie, Rodolfo Lindl and Fernando Saavedra, they form the group Dick Stones; later, with the drummer Andrés Valdovinos, Los Escalímetros, and in 1984, with Jorge Yogui Alvarado (future leader of Clandestine Emotions) the group Los Ilegales>.

Titae left for a year and a half in Austria to study music, which led to his first approaches to jazz, one of the styles that will later characterize the musical style of Los Tres. After returning to Chile in March 1987, the trio, formed by Álvaro, Titae and Pancho, is now under the definitive name of Los Tres. The same year, they decided to settle in the capital Santiago, playing at the cultural center Estación Mapocho. Alongside the activities of Titae as bassist of Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil, and Henríquez as an interpreter in the acclaimed play La Negra Ester, Teatro Provisorio entrusted them in 1988 with the musicalisation of his work Y Warhol, which they perform inspired by Andy Warhol with The Velvet Underground in New York>.

In 1991, Los Tres released their first album, Los Tres, published on the Alerce label. It includes pieces like Pájaros de Fuego, He barrido el sol, La Primera vez, implicitly dedicated to Augusto Pinochet, and Un amor violento.
